The California Student Aid Commission's mission is to make education beyond high school financially accessible for all California students. This website contains instruction and links for applying for Cal Grants and other state financial aid, as well as worksheets for determining need and links to publications The site also includes instruction and download software for filing Free Application for Federal Student Aid, FAFSA -- a must do when applying for aid. The Commission administers the state-funded Cal Grant program, which provides $250 million in need-based grants annually to 90,000 students attending public and private colleges. Graduate Fellowships provide an additional $1.23 million to more than 300 Californians each year for postgraduate study. In addition, the Commission's specialized programs for low- and middle-income students include scholarships for academic achievement; loan assumption programs for students pursuing a career in teaching K-12, or teaching and supervising at child development centers; and a state work-study program. http://www.fafsa.ed.govFAFSA on the Web is an Internet application developed by the U.S. Department of Education that students may use to complete an electronic Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). After transmitting an application over the internet, students can mail their signed signature page to the Department. The Central Processing System will determine their eligibility for financial aid within 72 hours after receiving the completed application.
